Susan Price-Jang has been with the ACE board since its inception. She has been an active volunteer with People Acting in Community Together (PACT), a non-profit organization doing community organizing out of churches and synagogues in the San Jose area with a focus on issues of health care access, affordable housing, and quality education for all children. PACT helped working class parents in the worst performing school district in the area create three successful small, autonomous public schools within the existing school district. Susan spent four years as Co-Chair of PACT during which time PACT hired its current Executive Director. PACT was responsible for the seed money to start up ACE, an organization whose mission is to provide technical assistance and funding to those small, autonomous schools and to create a charter middle school serving the lowest performing students.
Professionally, Susan has worked as the Parent Advocate at her local elementary school which she helped to convert to charter school status in 2000, one of the first charter schools in Santa Clara County. Previous to that, she worked for seven years in the high tech industry as a writer of training materials. Prior to that, she worked as an ESL teacher in East LA and abroad in Japan and in China.
